How to start journaling when your mind is noisy

A small, private way to write without performing depth.

JournalingOverthinkingReflection

You do not have to be eloquent

Journaling does not need to sound wise. It does not need to become a lesson, a plan, or a beautiful paragraph.

When the mind is noisy, the first job is release. A list counts. A half sentence counts. Repeating the same word counts.

Three ways to begin

Try one:

  1. “Right now, I notice…”
  2. “The thought I keep circling is…”
  3. “I do not know what I feel, but…”

Write for three minutes. Stop before it becomes another task to perfect.

Keep it small

If writing brings up too much, return to the body: feet, breath, water, light. Reflection should support you, not flood you.

You can always come back later.

Next gentle step

Stay with this at the pace that feels possible.

Try a related practice, return to the library, or book a private session if this brought up something you want supported.
