When sleep feels far away

A night-time companion for feeling tired but wired.

SleepOverthinkingRituals

Tired but wired

Sometimes the body is exhausted and the mind becomes louder the moment the lights go off. The pressure to sleep can make sleep feel even farther away.

Instead of trying to force sleep, try making the room feel less demanding.

Leave the thought somewhere

Keep a small note nearby. Write:

  • The thought I am leaving here is…
  • Tomorrow, one small thing I can do is…
  • For tonight, my only job is…

This does not solve everything. It tells the mind that the thought has been placed somewhere.

A wind-down ritual

Dim one light. Put your phone slightly farther away. Exhale slowly six times. Let the next action be rest, not evaluation.

If sleep still does not come, you can still give your body quiet.

Next gentle step

Stay with this at the pace that feels possible.

Try a related practice, return to the library, or book a private session if this brought up something you want supported.
